Random Photos Of Decks And Fences

I am going to start taking pictures of people's decks and fences to post here for everyone to see and maybe get some ideas from. I think it's legal as long as I am on public property and I don't show their address or any identifying info.

here goes

Re: Random Photos Of Decks And Fences

Dumb question, but wouldn't a google image search be just as easy at producing a set of random deck pictures? It would also avoid some of the moral debates (and potential charges) with creeping around in people's backyards taking pictures...

Re: Random Photos Of Decks And Fences

Here's a couple...

The first one doesn't have a ledger or beam at the house side and the cantilever is just over 3 feet. (BTW, took this from my back yard)

The second has no posts or beams. The "posts" are 2x8's nailed together and the "ledgers" aren't attached to the house. (This one was next door to one I built)

No sneaking around in anyone's yard by me

Im taking that means what I call an inside band. Joist nailed straight on to the siding, right? No inside beam bolted to the house?

I think it is steel, the cross bracing is steel, I'm pretty sure the outside posts/columns are as well.

I guess I didn't make it clear, the inside post that are 4x4's which look at least 10'. It looks like they have more bearing on them than the steel post on the outside.
