Railing Of Choice?

I know it's opinions. I did a deck a few years ago using the weatherbest railings and wasn't too happy with the performance. Looks nice though. Too much sag. Have they improved it?

I'm not too much into decks like I should be. I don't get around to doing many of them. I picked up a small one today and I made a booboo. A few weeks ago at a trade show, there was this company selling these hidfast systems I mentioned in the other thread. Looked sweet.

But they were also selling a pvc deck product called Truemarc and I've seen a few posts about it. Not sure what rice culling is. Anyway, I grabbed one of their samples I liked it so much. Well, I sold the decking to this guy. Minor problem is the company that held the trade show doesn't carry the product. Doesn't make sense to me they'd allow that.

So, I've got decking material, but no railing picked out yet because I don't know anything about the products. I don't want to say money is no object on this project, but it's close. I need a good one. Needs to be white pickets, 4x4 posts, caps, zero/low maintenance, forever. None of this glass stuff or wires. It won't fly. I need traditional if you know what I mean.

Advice from you deck gods would be much appreciated.

Anything like these Framerman? I'm not positive of the manufacturer, but if it's what you're looking for I'll try to find out.

I've been happy w/ TimberTech Radiance Rail. I haven't had a project where I've used white so no pics of that but there's some on their website - here's the direct link

There's some closeups of the Radiance Rail in Cedar color in this thread

For boxed rail kits Timber Tech Radiance is the hard to beat, very nice looking and easy to install.

Re: Railing Of Choice?

Thank you guys. Kudos to Mac and his link to the deck he did. I'm not feeling worthy after seeing that. You are going to make me turn it up two or three notches.

It's a really simple rectangle deck, so it's not fancy curves, different levels, but I will post progress shots and do an outstanding job in honor of Mac. Truly a great deck man. If you were here, I'd just let you do it and I'd sit back and drink Coronas while I watched

I'm gonna go for it. TT Radiance it is. I noticed in the pictures they have what I call the little sag blocks. Do I need these? I was hoping to get away from those things.

TT Radiance is probably THE best system out there right now.

And yes...you need the crush blocks.

I've used one product that used rice culling instead of wood pulp/flour. It expanded/contracted more than any other composite I've seen other than eon. It was not a pvc based composite tho & I've found those to shrink less than others so you may be ok with that composite, stuff does look good.

The TT rails are nice, trex has a similar rail, but I forget what they call it that looks good too. IMO it's the only trex product worth a darn, pretty pricey too. Yes, you have to use those blocks otherwise the rails will sag big time.

Re: Railing Of Choice?

I also think that TT Radiance railing is the best system. Trex railing is also pretty much straight forward. I can't stand plastic railing systems, that creaking noise of plastic against plastic drives me nuts . Good news that Trex and some other Manufacturers started to make code compliance graspable hand railings.
