Procell-Azek Decking By Far Best Composite
We have just used procell decking or what now is azek decking.
We have installed plastics, oasis decking, trex, as well as the crap from home depot ... lol. By far the procell has it beat out. Of course at $57 for a 16' board I dont know how much I will sell but, It turns out nice. I credit you guys for all your advice on it which led us to show it to the homeowner. Now I am glad I did. The fasteners that procell sells are far better than the standard trim head stainless that we buy. Not as much stripping and bending. Well guys just wanted to say thanks for all your advice on procell. Dont think I will try to sell another composite product. Take Care. |

Re: Procell-Azek Decking By Far Best Composite
What do you mean by crap from Home Depot? Because most of what you listed they sell as well.
IMO I really don't care for Oasis...By plastics I am assuming you mean EON and the like...which is also junk IMO. Trex isn't bad, but I think there is a lot better for the price. By crap I am going to assume you mean Veranda...which I will agree it really isn't the best out there, but it has improved since UFP started making it as opposed to when it was from LP. My main complaint w/veranda is that is is smaller in size. I really like correct deck although some of their colors are not to be desired. I also like the Tamco Evergrain decking, MoistureShield. Both of those have very good prices and so far seem to be pretty nice. |

Re: Procell-Azek Decking By Far Best Composite
Varanda has to be the ugliest decking known to mankind.I wouldn't build pallets out of it. I think procell is way to expensive, not sure why,i don't even think it looks good. I think evergrain is my favorite and just as good,I perfer the deeper grain, nice traction.trex is ok and almost the same price as evergrain.Procell has a slight sheen and minimal grain texture,i like the total opposite.I just picked up about 350 sq ft of evergain today for a job i'm starting tomorrow. What are you guys paying for evergrain? I picked it up for $2.25 per ft.

I agree pro cell is great stuff..i like how you do not have to pre drill it and it wont mushroom out when you sink the screws.. also it is very scratch resistant and cleans up really well.. also its not super heavy either...

We used veranda on a small back porch 2 months ago and I liked the look.
Stuff is FAR too heavy! I'm running a paint and stain test now, out in my yard... r |

Let me know how the stain holds up after a year or so. Are you using a solid or semi stain?

I wouldn't say veranda is that bad...it used to be but since they've changed it it isn't too bad... I'm getting evergrain for $1.92-$1.98lf depending on the qty...trex is bringing $2.53lf which is crazy because evergrain is much better. |

Re: Procell-Azek Decking By Far Best Composite
For ProCell screws try Universal Poly Products 800-556-3240. They advertise in Professional Deck Builder on page 8 in last issue. Buying in bulk cost 7.8 cents per screw as compared at 13.7 cents through ProCell distribution. Other stainless color screws we use are Headcoat through McFeeley's. Straight stainless through Fasco. Also agree that the smart bit for countersink is great -- really great since August when you can replace the drill bits. Casa Decks.

Re: Procell-Azek Decking By Far Best Composite
If you like Pro Cell then check out Ameradeck. It has all the qualities mentioned about Pro Cell & it cost much less. They have some new colors that look really good for a composite.
