Price Check On 8' Chain Link
I've built a polebarn for a customer and gathered some prices from fencing contractors for an 8' galvanized 11.5gauge chain link fence with numbers coming in at $30/LF (or $25/LF for vinyl coated), to include 1 5/8" top rail, 2 1/2" and 3" posts-no gate.
Did I transpose the figures-is $25/LF for vinyl coated correct, I thought the galvanized would be less expensive. Do the rates seem about right-I looked up info at various places (non-local) and the numbers seem to be a lot lower. Second thing-the customer wants a trench dug at the base of the fence and filled w/ concrete-to set the fence in the concrete (to keep his big dogs from digging under the fence). With research, I stumbled upon someone elses solution of getting extra fence (like a 2' wide section) and burying it horizontally under the earth but connected to the 8' fence. Sounds like it would work, but has anyone done this before? The trenching part wouldn't be so bad with power equipment (tractor) to do the hard work. |
