Prefab Aluminum Handicap Ramp.

I am needing to find a prefab handicapped ramp 17-18 feet long with rails, 48 inches wide.

I've looked at USARampstore, but only because it is the first to pop up. Anyone have experience with these?

Any other suggestions?

Why 4' wide? The standard width is 3'. The landings are typically 4' x 4'. Not saying that you can't build it that way. The ramp sections are usually 5' long. When searching try: modular wheelchair ramps. Don't forget to check craigslist or ebay.

I don't have any experience with those. I usually tell people about them and recommend the local home health provider. They have the information. I believe I was told they were available to rent. Because alot of people have an injury and need them for a short term. I'm not sure about that.

I don't think 3' wide is ADA compatible. I always built mine 5' wide on the portable school buildings jobs we did. Nowadays most of the school districts use those aluminum ones.

3' of clear space falls within the guidelines. That means that any handrails and whatnot need to be outside that space.

If it's for a residence it doesn't have to be ADA standards. All I know is that these ramps are typically 3' wide with 4' X 4' landings.

Around here VA has been really good about getting the for people. My sister's boyfriend got one and they came and installed it. Might be something to look into if a vet.
