Precutting? Cool New Tools...

A couple framing crews on my jobsite precut all the parts to the walls (outside and inside) including crips, headers, sills before putting in the first nail. Myself, i've always cut for windows and doors when the walls built. Seeing the sight of a huge unorganized pile of lumber brings my mojo down. Have any of the framing guys out there successfully used the precutting technique with a crew of three or less?
Also I tried the dewalt framing saw and loved it. That explains why my skilsaw is on ebay at this very moment (the one w/the new dewalt blade). The dewalt is much lighter and easiest to make cuts especially on the roof. Any thoughts?

I love to send a man ahead with my Dewalt saw just to precut, then he lays all the precut materials out, when we get there we just framy, 1-2-3 done. Works good as long as your cut man can read the prints! And yes, I like Dewalt, own 2 skillsaws and 2 12" sliding compund miter saws. Never had any troubles

We try to precut as much as possible, abp is right it MOVES if you can precut.
As for Dewalt tools I love 'em Bosch is a touch better IMHO but heavy as all hell. Never had a problem with either- that could not have been avoided

Re: Precutting? Cool New Tools...

That's all I did in the shop today... Make headers, cut trimmers & nailed to kings, cut cripples & sills. I do it all in my shop, then load it all on the trailer and park it as close as possible to the foundation. This way it's not scattered all over the subfloor when framing. It's all right there handy on the trailer. I make a cut list off the blueprints before hand, everything listed for size and quantity. The list goes out to the shop, one guy doing the cutting on 12" DeWalt SCMS, and I fit and shoot everything together.

One day in the shop prebuilding and one day framing (well maybe two)
