This one has 30 horsepower. The engine is gasoline powered, and the drive is 4 wheel hydrostatic. It's a stand behind, with a little platform to stand on. Very easy to use.

For price: I paid $24,500, but don't forget, I'm in Canada, so everything is more expensive.
My trailer, an enclosed 7x14 dual axle, was $4700.00

I just told my wife that I need to buy a mini skid and she started laughing. I explained to her that this is no laughing matter!?!

Re: Post Hole Digging Machines

Ok one more Canadian to add to this thread. I've tried them all, we started years ago with gas pwered augers, then went to PTO off of a tractor that worked ok until I got stuck in clay with no reverse. We now have mini skids and they are awesome. I even have an auger for my mini excavator for larger/deeper holes.

Oh and hi to my fellow fence & deck builders out there. I just joined looking forward to chatting with you all.

It won't fit on your mini walk behind but it can dig a hole without needing to haul out any excavated dirt.

It's pretty slick if your digging lots of holes in a new subdivision and have the space.

It is pretty cool that the dirt get compressed againt the walls of the hole. Especially when doing a large install 80 posts or more thats a lot of dirt to hual away
Look at the lateral movement on the loader arms though. Can that be good long term on the pins & bushings?

Re: Post Hole Digging Machines

While it looks real nice, I have several concerns,
1) Pointed end; I have never seen a footing with a pointed end, usually they are flat so there is some resistance of the of the pad to the ground.
2) The biggest one they make is 9" in Diameter so you are going to put a lot of holes under your deck. http://www.danuser.com/products/cons...bbleauger.html
3) The length of the auger is 48" so Guys up north that have to dig 42"-48" holes will have to manually clean out the bottom of the newly compacted dirt.
4) should they make a 12" I would definately buy it.
5) I would think it's probably real nice for fences.

The company is a great resource for power post hole digging equipment. I have been all over their web site and it appears that they can hanle all different kinds of scenarios. As soon as I get delivery on the mini excavator i'll be calling them.

I don't know if anyone has suggested a groundhog auger yet or not but this is what we use - especially good if you're not wanting a large capital outlay at this point
