Pergola Pictures

Just thought I'd share a couple of pictures of a pergola I did recently...

Re: Pergola Pictures

Thanks guys!

This is one that I was quite happy with. Having the HO's listen to me and let me stain it clear really made it pop. The total dimensions were 14' x 20'.

It's actually an old farm house Chris. The digging was a real b!tch - solid clay after the first 6 inches That hill made for a great vantage point for some of the pictures too. Believe it or not, on the other side of the hill the HO has his own dogleg Par 4 golf hole - complete with bunkers!

Thanks Matt.

The fact that everything was dried, sanded and stained prior to and again after assembly really contributes to the overall look. It was nice having a client that didn't skimp on letting me do it right from the get go.

Terry,
Why no pictures of the par 4? I would have taken my clubs everyday to the job!

Oh, now that is cool as hell! Like those posts from ground to beam - like the box, like the doubled post look, like the trim and inset area, an all around damn fine job!

The pergola looks outstanding, but kinda out of place against that building. It clashes imo. Great work though.

This is what I was thinking. it is a beautiful pergola, one of the nicest I have seen, but just doesn't "mesh" with the building design

Re: Pergola Pictures

Very Nice..The building connection looks plain, did ya think about putting half posts at the building?

Or if it was away from the house ( free standing)

Otherwise it looks real good!

I appreciate the feedback but perhaps it is the angle of the pictures I posted - from the ground level/patio area it actually really works for the space where it's built. The patio area goes all the way across the back of the house - about 19' deep x 60' wide.

The home owners are entertaining the idea of me building a matching one on the opposite side of the patio door come spring. They just want to get a feel for how everything looks/feels come spring.

Actually, they didn't even want the double posts in the middle but the span was almost 20' so those sets of posts were a necessity. There was no real way to do half posts at the house since they're double posts with cladding and shelves at the midpoint. I understand what you mean about balancing things out by the house but the HO's wanted to maximize the patio space and didn't want any more posts then absolutely necessary.

Re: Pergola Pictures

Terry, how is it attached to the house? Ledger?

Looks great, do you have some more pics, so that we can see the details and steal them.

Yes, there's a ledger at the house and then blocking (for lack of a better term) to cover over the lagbolts.
