Overhead Composite Decking

I have to build a deck that is 10 ft off the ground and covers a 14x24 patio, of a walk out basement. the upper deck will have roof covering it. These are my questions? 1. is their a composite decking company that sells a decking that the decking can be mated side by side or that is tounge and groove for the specific purpose of being water proof or water tight. the bottom of this deck will be sopheted and have can lights i n it for the patio below as will the roof over the composite decking. I keep reading about moisture content and air space etc, etc. I know i am not the first person to run into this senario when building an upper deck for a walk out on a new home. Any brands or insight from some one who has done this. Also I am pretty sure exposed fastners is out of the question, but the deck will have a picture framing around it and if i have to I can put treated 2x2 stabbers along each joist to srew from the bottom up if needed. I talked with one individual that tried this with geo deck and said never f@#$ again. I believe they are now out of buisness do to problems.

Re: Overhead Composite Decking

Timbertech and Correct deck both have their own waterproof soffit...never used it myself, but if you search drysnap or something similar it has been discussed.

I did a couple of decks in Geo deck and it was garbage. No complaints from the customers, but I didn't like the looks of it on my yearly followups.

It is true we at CorrectDeck partner with Rain Escape, which would work for what you want to do. The only system I'm aware of where the decking is actually waterproof is Last Deck, which is interlocking aluminum decking.

Re: Overhead Composite Decking

if you want cans below, you almost have to catch the water topside, instead of on the bottom. we used dek drain and it seemed to work real well with cans and ceiling fans.
i tried putting cans with the underdeck system and it was a real pain.
