New Products For 09

Timber Tech is suppose to come out with a new exotic looking XLM
Called Desert Bronze, and with new lighting called Deck Lites

Fiberon has a new line called Horizon with 4 colors and is suppose to be better than PVC. We were looking forward to their new Sanctuary line
That looked as close to tropical hardwood as we have seen in PVC
It was suppose to be out last year.

Maybe they are replacing the Sanctuary line with the Horizon.
The Horizon line looks a little like Correct Deck CX

Anybody else heard about new products for next year

I'm not too sure of what, but I heard something about Azek coming out with some new PVC decking in 09. The PVC material is sooo much easier to work with than some of these plastic/wood flour composites

It seems like a lot of work to get a man made that looks like S American lumber. Why not just use the real thing and not a copy??? J.

The same reason people buy fake Rolex's and plether couches... they want the look without dropping the coin. Getting folks to differentiate between cost and value can be like pulling teeth though

Yeah I agree, and what is really cazy is the new XLM I am sure will be more money than Ipe. I bet the new XLM wil be around $3.50 ft.

The thing most customers love is no time finishing the natural products

Depending on your location, the TT Earthwoods XLM most likely will be more expensive than ipe and other decking hardwoods. This here new fangled composite stuff is not the trailer park of decking (unless you're talking Eon or Quadra!!!)

Have you purchased composite decking lately? You don't pick this stuff up at Mal-Wart...

Re: New Products For 09

What people have to understand is different parts of the country deal with different weather and enviroments. IPE and other imported hardwoods are an absolute pain to maintain here (unless you want it to look like crap by turning silver). We have never done an imported hardwood here as no one wants to pay as much and still have to stain it all the time. I have been to 2 estimates for rear decks and the fronts were done in IPE. I asked "oh so I assume we will be using IPE to match the front?" there response has been "Hell no! we will never use that stuff again".

My uncle has trex on his deck in Chicago and it looks fine even though it is old... Around here it looks like absolute garbage after a year.

I dislike when people are so narrow minded that and dismiss this "new fangled man made stuff" when they realisticly have no clue what they are talking about. The ones I dislike even more are the ones who bash something they have never even used.

It's not new for '09 but came out late in '08

Novations from Royal http://www.royalcrownltd.com/images/...eet_ROP140.pdf

We have had good success with it and the price is right at 2.35/lf to our contractors.

It is one of two solid boards we carry ( the other being Azek Deck ). Good product with excellent value.

Hey folks,
An apology may be needed here . After checking the posting rules after I posted this,I realized it was against the rules. Then I thought about it and thought , I have seen others in here that could be considered direct advertising. So, with the choices i see, post something against the rules because others are... or don't post it...I'll try to refrain.

I would consider that a Direct Experiential Reference more than advertising as long as you are NOT affiliated with the Company in question. Persons here constantly suggest/recommend/share Brand Names and websites. It is part of the learning and teaching process that CT is designed for.

But upon rereading your post, it does sound as though you are NOT an end user but a Distributor. If that is the case, you HAVE erred.

I am in a little different position than some as I occupy both positions. We are a distributor who also does retail installations for HO's and contractors. It is difficult to separate the two sometimes.

In my position , I design and quote decks and fences for HO's, and supply material to contractors. So I do suggest/recommend/share but I will try to watch the bias as far as the website.

If you read back through MartyCD's posts
and can follow his example you could be
a welcome resource here as well.
Marty manages to be just that, a resource
rather than a huckster.
He will even say good things about the
competition when it's merited.

Yep. TT Earthwoods and XLM is prolly going to be $3.50+/lf in 2009 as it's just about there now. Even though it is expensive, the savings come back by not having to stain it yearly. It still needs to be cleaned yearly, but a $250 wash compared to a $2,000 stain job is a lot more pallatable.

Again I apologize....but PLEASE...a Huckster!!!

A huckster is a seller of small articles, usually of cheap or shoddy quality, or one engaged in haggling or making petty bargains, that is, a certain type of peddler or hawker.

I don't consider anything we sell or install cheap and we do our best not to put out any finished product that could be considered shoddy..gheeesh

all in jest

Wasn't accusing you of anything.
There are/have been some here who
could be characterized as hucksters
only when I'm feeling extraordinarly
generous.
