New Decking Prices

i am thinking about re doing my decking prices for simple decks to better suite my homeowners pocket books and boost business.

What are some of the prices you are charging on simple plans? i have my custom deck section prices solid.

I charge a pretty high price for my work and I am wanting to give back a little something to my new customers.

Ideas?

Put an ad in the local paper saying you'll pay them $500.00 and do their deck free of charge, materials and labor. See how many calls you get.

I was just thinking about dropping off the little decks. They always seem to take longer than they should... Something always goes wrong. Or the building department/zoning gets stupid and delays things.... etc etc.

took the words right out of my head. In fact I was just talking about this phenomenon with someone else the other day, the amount of elapsed time from lead to payday is propportioally not worth rolling out of bed for in the morning. I just disregard all new inquiries under a certain size and/or budget.

Maybe we are on a different level when it comes to business.Your small projects make me big money.

I know where your comeing from when you talk about all the permits ann such, Thanks for answering my question.

Do you build 60k decks? I would like to see some of them if you ever get the chance. I have frame packages that cost that much and more.
if your doing 350-500k/year why are you even contemplating wasting you time on "small decks"??? To turn those #'s with small decks you will need a fleet of salesmen, at least 3 fully outfitted crews of illegals, and an advertising campaign on tv and radio. Sorry I even opened my F n piehole

Re: New Decking Prices

I NEVER ignore a telephone lead. I don't do anything less that about $4000, but I always call people back and explain why I am not set up to do their small job. At least you don't create negative vibes by ignoring them.
My biggest deck this year is $28,000. My bread and butter is anything from $5000 to $10,000. Overall, my volume this year will be about $1,300,000 give or take.
Don't ignore people. There will come a time when the big jobs are few and far between, and the collective conscious of the buying public will somehow remember how you treated them.
Just my $0.02
