New Deck
I am in the process of building my own house and I will be soon be building the deck onto my new house and wondered about flashing behind the ledgeer board. Some say to do it with both ledger flashing and back flashing and some just use ledger flashing, and others nothing. Any advise to which I should do?

Re: New Deck
Is this ACQ? The old flashing that was always used isn't going to cut it now due to the extra corrosive properties of ACQ, a lot of guys are using copper for flashing, or standing off the ledger board by installing wood spacers between the ledger and the rim joist of the house.

Re: New Deck
No, this is the old CCA treated pine. It looks like a top ledger flashing is standard practice, but not sure of the back flashing.

Re: New Deck
You have the advantage of not having to work with existing siding.
Use aluminum coil stock behind the ledger and then run a piece of Z flash on the top of the ledger board. Let the house wrap fall over the coil stock and the upper piece of the Z flash. Have the coil stock drop over the house wrap on the bottom. Make certain it is CCA if you use aluminum.
