Very nice design & workmanship to go along with it. You do need some ventilation tho, especially on that lower deck. I hope to heck you didn't use eb-ty's on that eppie.

John agrees , cross ventalation is very important with solid skirting and low to the ground projects using any kind of decking X 100 using ipe. J.

i havent figured out the venting issue yet, and yes i used eb-ty's, i know they are crap, you just have to look at the screw and know it wont hold but thats what poly glue is for. was quite funny when i 1st used it the foam was insane, was like a foam gun had sprayed on the deck

Here's the deal, with solid skirting the ground under the deck will not dry out, it will hold moisture. Then add hot sunshine on top of the deck & the boards will want to cup towards the heat. Which way the grain is won't matter either, boards always cup towards heat. When that glue fails & it will, those eb-ty's won't hold the ipe down.

If you want to stay in business doing custom ipe decks *****can those eb-ty's. Build 'em right, face screw.

Re: My 1st Eppie

I have always thought the clip folks require the construstion adhesive not for the hold down power but to make up for uneven framing and to quiet down the sound of the boards moving while being walked on.

Using the ebty product is a gamble with odds around 45% in the faliure area, of course a person has to define faliure, but say nothing goes wrong and that is a big mabey. A person still looks down and sees the clip and the screw.WTF is the point??

When the wallet wants the no fastener look I go T&G ipe. There are a lot of little tricks to doing this,I defentley do not recomend a newby contractor trying it.

I have all sorts of scare stories with ipe throwing a complete fit like a two year old when no cross ventalation was providied. J.

The deck looks terrific. Good design, good workmanship. Impressive. Maybe I have a new competitor.
What is the name of your company?

With all due respect, may I ask what you charged for that deck? Don't have to tell me, just curious.
