Most Expensive Fence
I understand you can have a great big deck job that can topple 100k. But what about fences?
whats the most you've charged for a fence per foot? must be over 100 feet- because we all charge higher margins for short jobs. or, what the longest fence job you've ever done?

Talking about the most expensive projects reminds me of a potential client I met with and I thought the meeting went well and they asked me "So do you have one of these decks on your house?" and I said "Heck no, I am way too expensive"... Needless to say I never got that project.

This one was $125/lin. ft. and the gates were $2500 each.

By the way. We once built a group fence with over 100 homeowners. It was about 4000 feet.

The top curve was cut out of a 2x12 and is two pieces framing the T&G cedar that runs the entire length of the gate. the frame for the gates are 4x4's so I had to match that width at the top. The template for the curve was done free-hand, a belt sander finishes off the curve. The gates were different widths so the curves aren't 100% the same - but they're pretty close. I did installations for your company 3-4 years ago. I must of picked up the term through osmosis. Now that you mention it, Ulrick is a strange name for a fence board style.

The story goes like this: In 1979 the first year we were in business, we had a customer who wanted a solid board fence. We only knoew how to do standard board on board, so he showed us how to do it. He was a retired older German fellow named Mr. Ulrich, so the name stuck. I've seen other companies use the name as well, so I gusess we've been influential in the Toronto fence market! |

Damn Terry, I've done gates very similar to that and I don't think that I got half of that amount. Maybe it's the conversion. What's that in american dollars. Never mind, I just checked, about $2455. Wow.
I would guess that I didn't make much off of those gates. I probably did them for the portfolio value. Great job anyhow. |
