Re: More Curves

I don't want that job, I would lose too much more hair just thinking about those steps.

Re: More Curves

this is the kicker, at 377 its a decent average/smallish size deck, but there's 11' basement ceilings as opposed to the standard 9' with a drastically sloped yard, so it looks disproportionately tall to its area, good one terry with the hair

Oh hell yeah! - those things look like a total blast! No wonder why you've been kiting so much...if I can swing it to get out there, maybe we build something together and spend the rest of the time on the water!

Sketchup???? I thought you were a tride & true Inventor man!

That does look nice. Pretty simple design for what I've seen you put out. I need to get a pic of the one I'm starting next weekend.

Re: More Curves

sorry to dissapoint nah, i am an inventor guy, however I am much more quick and proficient in auto cad, so in crunch time I find myself using acad and rendering in su, don't get me wrong su rocks, I'd pay hundreds for it these are true design tools unlike dt which is a complete joke of a design tool.

wow man that's awesome- where do you even begin- to figure out the stair layout. I've never done curved stairs. Please post pics of your progress.

in plan view like any other stair, pretty easy to figure out stringer layouts and tread shapes with CM calculator, use real wet defect free pieces for stringers (2x10 for outer 2x8 for inner radii) it helps to use the deck as a "top plate" plumb down for bottom plate nailed to ground with 12" spikes to make a form studs outta 2x4 and a $h!tload of ratchet straps and various slings and rigging. I have used 3 different methods to make curved stairs with 2x stringers and this is the best method by far, I'll take some pix and vids when I start it
