Metal Or Wood Frame?
My Folks want to put in a composite top deck(16'x38')at the lake. Its very sandy. So what would be the best for the sand. Custom welded metal frame or treated lumber frame?
My next question is should we cement the post or sit them in those center block holders for 4x4's? What is the best composite decking? Is the tongue and groove screw-less any good? Thanks guys |

Re: Metal Or Wood Frame?
Had a guy last summer that wanted a deck so I go buy and take a look. He says that he wants to build a tube frame and then have me build on it. I said are you going to be putting nelson studs on that frame for me to attach to.he said I thought you could just lay your decking on it. He wanted to save the money on pt materails well i dont know if it ever got built but sure would not do it . My guess is set the post in concret and the frame will be a lot of money and I dont use 4x4 for any post all 4x6 pt I dont see why pt lumber wont do the job But again if you are going to attach a lvl or beam to the post to carry the joist better go 4x6 6x6 post
