Making Arches
I've got a 3.5 foot fence tounge and groove. I want to put arches into it. What is the best technique

If it is already standing, and you don't want to take it down, and if the posts are spaced pretty evenly...I would make a template out of 5/8" or 3/4" ply, mdf, or particle board. Then clamp it to the fence and use a jigsaw or a sawzall and cut it a little oversized...maybe 1/8"....the use a router with a flush cutting (bearing) bit to trim it down to the template....If the posts are not spaced evenly, you'll have to make multiple templates.

If you can, get a 10' or 12' fiberglass tension bar for chain link fences. You can stick some screws in the section to hold it at the right arch, then trace. But if the panels are all the same a plywood template is definately faster.
