Just The Stairs Off Second Story

I'm interested in getting a bit more advice on estimating steps/stairs off a second story deck. It would be a basic stair system that would have one bend midway to a platform, turn 90degrees, and then finish off.

The family already has the deck complete, I would be simply taking a section of railing off and building down from there. Its 9'6" from ground to deckplanks.

All materials are PT.

We gave them an estimate of $1100. But that was just a number I came up with when thinking of approx. cost of materials and time to finish the project.

Anyone else bid just the stairs? I have a pretty good system down for an entire deck, specially ground level.

How wide, how deep do you have to dig your piers? Float rails? For me to do it just labor, 4' wide stairs with 30" deep piers, float rails $700-$900

Re: Just The Stairs Off Second Story

assuming your stairs are 5' wide with a total fall of 9'6" from ground to finished deck, you wil have (17)rises, 16 treads (one of which will be a 5'x5' landing), (6) 10"dia x 36" footings (4 for landing, 2 at base), closed in risers, + railing, framed in #2 ptsyp, decked and railed in select ptsyp. Around these parts I would charge $3000,(phila suburbs)
