I'm Bored. Could Somebody Tell Me How Much?

Well, I maybe got this job, see, and I wanna no how much you guys'd charge

It's 327 sq ft x 56 ft long. They wanna make it outa some special wood like comosit, or toothpicks or somethin. Oh, and it hasta be powder-coted? (Is that like TNT?) And the surface gotta be "anodised" (thats what the owners want)

waadya think?

make sure that the toothpicks are pressure treated I have heard that anodising will cause the wood to rust under the powdercoating leaving only a hollow core.

Ah...this is supposed to happen, it makes the whole thing lighter and more flexible. Remember to leave a vacuum hole to get all the debris out though.

Re: I'm Bored. Could Somebody Tell Me How Much?

Scipio is correct. You really need to clean the debris out to combat the invasion of the destructive north african beetle species called the eatalottadebrisapus. Pronounced just as it is spelled. When you clean out the debris, make sure to use hurrican ties to the ground to keep the structure from blowing away. I like to use 27d nickel coated bronze nails. They seem to hold in the dirt better than the regular galanized 16d.

I know your original question asked to price of a structure like this. It is much easier to price the job for $230.74 but leave it open ended at a price of $.875 per hour as for the extensive upkeep required of toothpick houses.

The price should come in somewhere about 3 times the anti freeze capacity of a 1969 VW bug plus the height of the carb float in a 2009 F150 FI.

I would not take this advice. You would lose your ass with a bid that low. I think you forgot to include your overhead and profit with those calculations.

Geez. Whatta goofball. Its a good thing he is in construction. Any decent shadetree mechanic knows that a 09 F150 FI doesn't have a carb float!!!!! They rebuilt the carbs on the new FI Fords so they don't need the floats anymore.

Well lets see. That's 18,312 sq. board feet of lumber plus the usb plus the anodizing rod from a water heater plus overhead and profit. Oh, and I almost forgot to charge for lunch. I think $42,987 rounded up to $43,000 and an RC and a moon pie.

You must be careful when you bid a job like that, there should be a note in the structural page of the plans as to whether the tooth picks are to be square or flat, flat toothpicks are harvested from old growth lumber and will come at a much higher cost. Also was the powdercoat speced by name brand, cause Johnson&Johnson is way overpriced, when any type of cornstarch will surpass all local code requirements in my region.

Well Shucks,,,,I would do the whole thing for a 99 FXD Harley. Plus I got a toothpick machine I can crank those things out any darn way you like it.

For just a little more I can get that big ol Bubba up there to put em where the sun dont shine. J.

Should have seen the specs for the one I got yesterday, round with 1 pointy end only & squared on the other with 4 grooved bands - man I chocked when I priced them out
