I Bought A Skid Steer

Well, actually, I bought a mini loader. It isn't a skid steer.
I "talked" to Greg Di (to whom I am gratefull for the advice) and went to look at a Ditch Witch. I didn't even know they were available in Canada, but low and behold, there they were.
Instead of the tracked model, though, I bought the "Zahn" R300, which is 4 wheel drive and articulated in the middle. 30 horespower, (more than a small Bobcat), with a planetary auger, 2 bits, and a bucket.
Today I'm off to look at an enclosed trailer for it, 7x14. Enclosed to keep prying eyes away, protect it from the elements, and have a large billboard to letter with my name and logo.
Just like Greg, I am excited at the possibilities.

Congrats Steve.

What else are you going to haul in the 7x14 trailer? That's way more than you need for the machine.

I use a 5x10 landscape trailer for mine and it's the perfect size.

Looks nice! I'd love to have something like that. Maybe this year or next if I can pull thru.

Re: I Bought A Skid Steer

Sweet! Glad I could help.

My gravel and mulch yard runs a Zahn and he loves it. It runs smoother over hard surfaces than tracks do.

Ironically, I used my SK350 to move some snow today and I broke the throttle cable. I went to throttle up while starting it and the cable snapped all by itself. I was able to rig it to run wide open, but that's not ideal.

Called the dealership and they are sending me out a new throttle cable today. I didn't think it was worth a 4-hour roundtrip to the dealership when I could do it myself (I think ).

I keep mine in a 7x14 enclosed and it works out well for the most part, but the attachments take up a lot of room and are bulky. Also, these machines are heavy, so I added a second layer of 3/4" plywood to the floor to beef things up and prevent wet tracks from rotting out the main floor.

Re: I Bought A Skid Steer

Can you guys post some pictures of your enclosed trailers with your mini's? I have a 7 x 14 that I am trying to re organize inorder to have room for a dingo 425 I just bought. It seems as though the dingo takes up most of the trailer. Thanks!

I remember when men where men and holes where dug with backs, post hole diggers and a bottle of JD in your back pocket.

Thanks goodness mine is in a decent state of organization now - I'd hate to spend the time in this cold sorting it out.

Get your space heater in there, close the door and don't come out until it's clean
