Hydraulic Auger Head For Mini
anyone know of a vibratory or percussion hydraulic auger head, or if they are even available for a mini, I have a few ideas floating around my head for super easy precision hole placement, and I keep coming back to a vibrating head, mabey sw&e guys might know, tia
possibly thinking about creating a "slip" coupling between my auger and head and something resembeling the notched ring in a hammerdrill with a shroud around the auger tip making it similar to a "hammering" forstner bit, before I experiment, I'd like to know if something like these hollowstem coring rigs are available for a 12" diameter bit that is mini skid mountable

Always thinkin' huh? No wonder there's no "grass" growing up there! You ought to post over where the dirt guys hang out. One of them will know if there is such an animal.

Chris, I don't know if this will fit your machine or not but Bobcat has this:

Re: Hydraulic Auger Head For Mini
terry that is the shizzle, i know cpi and kanga have em, never used one though. I just keep thinking how awsome it would be to esentially have a "hammer drill" for augering holes, I seen a few coring rigs that seem to do what i want however they are turning a seriously smaller bit, and the machine is already getting on the big side. I think I am going to elongate out the pin hole on the auger bit a little, not much just enough to get some linear play along the rotation axis (same as that little play in hammerdrills) then get a machine shop to make up some parts for me essentially simmilar to the guts that make a hammer drill "hammer" , have a few concept sketches in auto cad and in brain housing assembely, my next step is to get some precision measurements of the relation between the head and the coupling shaft on the auger and sit down and actually design something, obviously it wouldn't do ***** when hitting something big or a nice big chunk of quartz, but for the typical shale or schist chunks lying in my path it should fracture along its grain nicely, so I don't have to stop, jack hammer, auger, stop jackhammer auger etc. but if there was a bona fide percussion hydraulic auger head for minis that would be the cats a$$
