How To Price Labor 4 Vinyl Fence
Hey guys, I hope someone in here can help me. I normally do not install fencing, but times are a little slow for me and a repeat customer asked if I could estimate and do the fence job. At this time I do not have the exact dimensions of the job, but i will not be paying for the material, only the labor. To me it looks like 30 6'x6' sections of the home depot vinyl fence, and a gate kit or two.
There is nothing to remove(old fence),grade is fairly level. I'm not to sure on the soil type, but will check it out tonite with a post hole digger(unless there is a better way). all the materials will be delivered. So looks like just a labor price. the job is located in central jersey. iwant the job , but want to be in the ballpark (so to speak). Any input? Per lin ft.? thanks in advance zman |

Re: How To Price Labor 4 Vinyl Fence
I am about to do an install of some vinyl fence in CO, ad here is how I did the bid:
I addeed up the cost per hole to dig, cost per post to set (I am setting the posts in concrete so I figured 1/2 hour per), cost per section of fence (1 hr) and cost per gate to construct (i gave it 1-1/2 hours per). From that I figured out a lineal foot cost, although that number might change per job due to different lengths and how much of a chore it is to istall the type of fence wanted by the HO. Hope this helps. |

Re: How To Price Labor 4 Vinyl Fence
Sounds like 180ft 36 post and if you have never done this before you dont know how long it will take per sections to build.that makes it tuff because some one who does this every day might take 2 hours a section. So you realy cant put that extra cost on the HO. So call a dealer next to you and ask him what it would cost to have him come and do it. his price will be for materails and labor. then ask him how much just for the materails along and that should give you your labor cost. then add some to that because there labor cost are low. because they make there money off the materails not labor. thats what I did good luck

No thats cheap out here it was 26.00 a ft for labor and materails from a dealer but that was 8 ft sections you need to figure two days post and four days putting up the sections even through you have not done this before once you do the first section then you will pick up speed how much do you charge by the hour for your self

Re: How To Price Labor 4 Vinyl Fence
I'm paying around $120 for an 8' section and $25 or so for posts. Not Home Depot grade however. I know there stuff is cheaper, but I like what I'v been using. I like the mark-up too!

Re: How To Price Labor 4 Vinyl Fence
Here on long island for pvc fence installations (not homer fence) we base our prices on a per pole basis, $ 70.00 per post,(some get $80.00)includes digging hole, installing section and cementing post in, and $ 75.00 to hang a gate, this includes buying sand and cement.homer fence is the worst to install, with all the brackets and screws.Might pay to make a template to mount brackets much faster or you will be there all day just installing them.
Just for the record home depot is not all that cheaper, there sections are only 6 ft,therefore on a big job you need a lot more post ,i buy 6ft high x 8ft long pvc sections for no more than $ 80.00 per and post and cap for $ 23.00 ,and its alot better than homers fence.

Re: How To Price Labor 4 Vinyl Fence
Hi I was wondering if any one can help me out. We sell Kroy Fencing-which is more expense than most vinyl fence. I live in Kansas and I was wondering on how much I should mark up my materials and installation. We have been open for several years but are losing money on our fencing. We currently charge $6 a foot for installation and mark up our fencing 25%. I don't think we are charging near enough and I was wondering what other companies charge in our area? Thanks.

Re: How To Price Labor 4 Vinyl Fence
Call the other companies and pretend to be a client shopping price.....
Oh and one other thing... If we don't know your costs for being in business and the profit desired/needed to pay your personal bills...we cannot tell you what to charge. I always tell folks when they ask me "how much to charge"..... Costs of job + Overhead dedicated to that job + Desired profit = job cost

Re: How To Price Labor 4 Vinyl Fence
Speaking of vinyl fences. What is the difference between vinyl fence from Home depot and lowes than from a wholesale fence company. I hear that the stuff from HD and Lowes are really not virgin vinyl, more like recycled. Also are they trully lifetime waranties on them??

Re: How To Price Labor 4 Vinyl Fence
Jersey,
I have found fencing prices to vary the smaller the company the lower the pricing. JObs range from $4500-$10000 for same job. This is new to me and we are trying for $20 hr but end up around around $10-12 just depending on the complications of the job. Remember to put in the cost of an auger to drill holes and to have utilities marked 3 days prior to start date. If your not purchasing the product that is good if you are calculating what you need figure in mathmattically what you need adding in extra slates, 2x4 cedar, and add 2-3 extra bags of cement. Be sure to get good cedar and not center cut prestained, or pressure treated that fades or warps. Ask at your hardware store they are very helpful. If you dig holes by hand figure 30 min per hole as long as it is not clay. If you only have 6-7 holes it will depend how hard you want to work. We can get an auger for 4 hours for about $50 well worth it in my opinion. |
