Hey you deck builders, check out my buddy Joe Wood's stuff
Check out my buddy Joe Wood's skills. He works a lot in Ipe and other erotic woods.
Here is a prime example of his joinery...
Spend some time on his website to see some of his work
http://www.woodsshop.com/index.htm
He's part of the reason I don't like building decks anymore. He has set the bar so high!

I could do that in my sleep... NOT. Wow that is some VERY nice work... I think I might have to change my tagline or sabotage his website so no one else sees it.

He's a perfect example of where you can end up if you discriminate aggressively in regard to your customers.

Did you mean to say erotic? or was it Freudian?
That is some gorgeous work BTW.

I'd love to get into that class of work. My customers all want PT decks. Haven't been able to break into the right market yet. Very nice work there.

From what I know about Joe Wood, he's been doing this a looooong time and that his projects are so complex and expensive that he travels very far to complete them. He is a true specialist and is working for less than 1% of the normal population the rest of us build decks for.
His work is great no doubt, but is building Ferraris. We are catering to the mass production crowd and are selling far more Fords.
Don't get all discouraged...I'd love to be able to sell that kind of work, but I'd rather make fast nickels instead of slow dollars.
