Finish For Mahogany

What's your pick for a penetrating waterproofer for mahogany? It's for a set of steps. My usual route on rails is teak oil but I wouldn't use that on a walkable surface.

I used to like the ATO that Gene recommended, but they've changed their formula over the years and I think it looks and performs like crap. I'd take readily available Penofin over the Cabots. Messmers is better, and a few here like TWP 100. (A special order on the 'net, I believe...I've never used it)

Its twp 100 series for me,has been for a lot of years. I get it at my local but in my area there is a corp plant 30 miles away.


All my ipe wood protect test shorts are not really holding up all that well and they never did bead water. Right now after a few months they look real close to the untreated ipe right next to them. I am also testing the twp waterbase stuff they look the same as the day I put the finish on. J.
