Fav. Type Of Engineered Decking

I don't do alot of decks but a few buddies of mine do and were "discussing" different types of decking the other day. What is your fav type of engineered decking/brand and why?

You had me worried, until I saw your "P.S."

I think Trex going out of business will be sooner rather than later. I was at the lumber yard the other day and saw them loading a full flatbed's worth of Trex onto it. So, I asked the guy in the yard about such a large order and if they actually sold a lot of Trex. His response was "no, we don't sell very much at all and that truck load was ALL of our Trex stock going back to our supplier"

I like Procell because it is lightweight and easy to screw down. Its a pvc product and has lots of expansion.

Re: Fav. Type Of Engineered Decking

Odd, Procell/Azek is cellular PVC, and shouldn't expand/contract much- especially if screwed at the ends like instructed...

Of course, of all the decks I've quoted in the stuff, I've lost every one! LOL
So this is just 2nd hand info for me...

Oh, and most TimberTech, some Trex, Azek in some locations, Moisture SHield if the customer likes it...
These are my favorites!

Re: Fav. Type Of Engineered Decking

The few times that I have worked with Procell or Azek the butt joints have shrank almost 1/8" or more. Especially on days with a 40 degree temperature change. Maybe we did not fasten it properly at the ends, I will look into that the next time we use these products.

Ouch!

Honestly, we haven't had the problems many folks have. Their Artesian railing is now a quite nice product, and the decking isn't too bad. But, that's just us, and just here.
