Dura Deck

Anyone have experience with Duradeck? Product is a waterproof membrane laid over a deck. Client has this product an a balcony off master bedroom. Balcony is set into the roofline and therefore the deck is above 2 bedrooms downstairs. I think you can see where this is going. Install folks did not factor in slope and for many years water has been leaking into the house. Does this appear to be a good product if installed properly or have you experienced membrane failure due to eg., UV exposure?

Re: Dura Deck

If this DuraDek is installed correctly it will last and function well.

It should have been fully glued down and all the seams heat welded together.
There should also be some "trim" pieces around the perimeter (drip edge and flashing) of the deck that are mechanically fastened.

If this product is installed correctly it will last for a long time. The UV will fade the color pattern over time (years), especially if there is standing water on the deck due to improper slope.

I would first look at the joints, then the terminations at the house for possible leaks, Railing posts installed correctly with cauling down IN the screw holes and installed after the DuraDek.

Post a pic so we can see the details.
