Dry lower deck stuff
Has anyone had any experience with the "underdeck" type products installed to keep the lower of two level deck dry? We are enclosing the lower deck and need a way to keep water and stuff from upper deck out. Any problems using system with walls and windows on lower deck.
Can not solid floor upper deck..Must catch water as it passes through deck surface. Hope this makes sense. Thanks
Frosty

Its funny, I have contacted one company who seems to have the best product out there and he tells me to go to any Home Depot or Lowes and they will spec out the product for me and price it.
Well Lowes doesn't carry it and have never and getting anyone to listen to me at HD is another story in itself.
As soon as I get someone to talk to me, I will be installing it on a 30x30 carport and 2 decks. So I will keep you updated.

I have done 1 underdeck job... It seems just fine and I would imagine that it would work in your situation. I dont know if it leaked at all as I never got a call from the owners so I am assuming it is working just fine. It took a little bit to figure out how to put it up all by myself... But I got it.

It was Underdeck brand. And I dont remeber how much the materials cost... But you can go to homedepot.com and search for Underdeck and it will come up with the prices.

Ever use water tight decking ? I used a product about 10 years ago, can't remember the name but its still holding up well.Eack plank was grooved for a square channel gasket that made them water tight. There are other types on the market today that are much easier to install, something folks should consider when building a two story deck. Its a bit more expensive but it may out weigh the cost of doing something after the fact.here's is one i found on back yard america that i'd like to use.

i've use one called "dry space". its pretty cool but i wouldn't recommend it for cover something that absolutely needs to be dry. the panels all go into a gutter system installed on beam.

Either aluminum tongue & groove decking or Millenium decking are both great for elevated decking with dry patio space below. Both are approx same price, I would lean towards millenium decking personally though.

Under decking product
May want to check out the RainEscape product. Works well & insures a leak proof installation. Also does a great job of protecting joists which is not always the case with other under deck systems.

I've installed the timbertech dryspace. It was relatively easy to install once you get the hang of it. If sealed correctly it does not leak. I was able to see one I did a year later and it is still water tight.
