Re: Cutting Stucco

use a 4" angle grinder to cut the stucco. You will see the blade will cut through the lath & stucco 7/8" but not through the paper. If you do end up ripping the paper use polyurethane caulk to "tape" the cut ends together. All this talk about weep screeds and leaks is wrong. Weep screeds are at the base of the stucco! Pre drill your ledger board up and counter sink for the lag bolts then polyurethane the piss on the bolt's threds before you drive them in breaking the moisture paper. Good luck on your project.

Re: Cutting Stucco

BTW the use of the drip ledges over and under the ledger board is a Plus it will keep the ledger board from rotting. You may be able to slide the top of the drip ledge behind the stucco w/o cutting it but it all depends if there are lath staples in the way. otherwise I wouldn't worry to much about cutting more stucco than necessary because it's just to keep the water from sitting on top of the ledger board.

Hmm, James, have you chatted w/ Nathan yet about rates for advertising on ct? That would really be your best avenue to introducing your super duper flashing to us...

Now that's funny! Sales rep signs up for the sole purpose of pushing his product in these forums but can't quite get the spelling right!!

Re: Cutting Stucco

Got it, thanks Mac. He needs to put a side view of it up on his site. I've had that type flashing made up at a local sheet metal shop before.
