I mostly use porter cable blade left saws , in a manner similar to how you would use a wormdrive type saw. I also have milwalkee 10 inch saw for cutting beams and I-joists.

I mostly use porter cable blade left saws , in a manner similar to how you would use a wormdrive type saw.The low weight, about 10 lbs, compared to about 20 for a wormdrive is the main reason for my choice of saw and that almost no one make a left blade saw. I also have milwalkee 10 inch saw for cutting beams and I-joists,no real reason for choosing other than few power tool makers make a 10 inch circular saw.

I have always been a loyal fan of milwaukee tools, primaryreasoning is that I have yet to see a circular saw with graduated bevel scale in 1 deg. increments. plain and simple. From that simple logic and feature in a tool, I have stuck with milwaukee over the years and I pretty much am reluctant to try anything else. I have the tiltlock sawin both right and left hand models as well as the 18v and 28v trim saw, all have bevel scales graduated in 1 deg increments from 0-50 deg. both tiltlocks are in need of replacing and unless I see a circular saw with that simple feature, I will not even give another saw a chance... thoughts???

I have been a loyal fan of Milwaukee for years, well that's where I live. Now I am using the Bosch direct connect, which is nice so far. I leave a 25' cord(nice cord that came with it) unless I need longer. Never get that snag from the cord anymore when cutting , and it never comes unplugged. 56 degree bevel, handy little 1 1/2" hook, and they claim it can withstand drops from 1 story, I might believe thatbut not sure....

I have the bosch worm drive (not the direct connect it came out 2 months after I bought mine) and I have the ridgid worm drive that has the bevel scale in 1 degree increments. However the table on the ridgid is a lttle weak it fell off the sawhorse 2 or 3 days after I had it and bent the table up a little bit in the corner does not affect it at all. But still a little weaker than I had hoped to see. When I buy another it will most likely be another bosch. As far as the one story drop, my brothers was dropped by an idiot laborer down to the basement and it messed it up real good. I spent about 2 hours taking it apart and reworking it. Its not to bad now, about 2 degrees off on the bevel. No saw is worth buying if it does not come with a hook or one can not be put on.

I kind of figured the 1 story drop is a stretch, now I don't have to test that theory...

Re: Curious About What Circ. Saw You Use And Why

I have a variety of saws that have different uses.
Up front are a pair of identical Makitas. One is a 'garbage saw', used with diamond, concrete blades and for rough cutting light work. The second is a 'detailed' saw, it runs a fine blade and is used for cabinet alterations or other semi precise work in the field.

Second string is a Milwalkee worm drive. Heavy? Sure! It also slows down kickbacks and can 'Get 'er done'.

Third string is many rotarty tools from the shelf and created by myself.

Ridgid worm drive. I love it. Good power, well balanced and easy to control on long rips. My last saw was a $30 skil homo depot special

KBK, If your last saw was a Skil, any saw would be a great improvement.

Makita, - - dependable, good power, well-balanced, and most important to me, - - a good 'sight-window' for accurate view and cuts.
