Correct Deck

From a contracting persceptive what difference we would encounter
making the switch from Trex to Correct Deck ?

1) does the hidden fastener system hinder production ?
2) uphill battle in terms of name brand recognition compared to Trex ?
3) any downside to Correct Deck they fail to share ?
4) How does the warranty compare ?
5) Has anyone had a warranty claim with CD, if so the results ?

Tralene,
Hold on to your boots, RobertCDF will be on here shortly and answer everything you wanted to know about CD.

In the meantime, I do like the looks of their hidden fastener system, probably one of the faster on the market, plus you can get the decking pre-grooved. One selling point they have on the other brands, is their CD CX brand, which is supposed to resist mold/mildew. I think that's going to become a big plus for them.

1) I like the HFS a lot and it goes down VERY fast. Unless you glue it down too like I do. A little tip with the HFS, dont sink your screws all the way untill you get your next board in. Then go back and sink the screw. They are starting to supply a screw in the middle of the clip but I dont like the screw I think the head is too big. I like to use the GRK torx T-10 Stainless steel trim head screw.

2) I would print some stuff off from the internet about the lawsuits filed against trex. That might help your case a little bit.

3) I hate the rails they make. I HATE ALL COMPOSITE POSTS. Why do they make them? Why dont they all make post sleves. I make my own by using 4x4 lumber and glueing and screwing fascia boards onto the 4x4's. Then I use the 2x4's and 5/4 board with deckorators balusters.

4) Correct Deck has a 25 year warranty. I have no idea what trex offers I never sell trex so I have not done any research into thier product.

5) No warraty claims, sorry I cant help in this area.

Let me know if you have any other questions on this product. It is my personal favorite and the only product I recomend.

Looks like they are getting to know me around here.

I like the look of the new CX product as well. I think it will make a great product even better. The only drawback to the CX right now is that they only have the decking boards. No fascia or 2x4's yet. And I need those to make it all match together. But hopefully they will be along soon. and maybe be lucky enough to get post sleves.

Re: Correct Deck

Beat me to the fascia question
If they offered a 2by 4 you could dress the fascia with 5/4 & 2 by

As it stands how are Correct Deckers adressing that issue ?

With no two bys you can't build Board on board privacy fence around
hot tubs
Not a fan of of the low brow white vinyl but nothing as mind numbing as building rails with Trex after awhile you get "snowblind " and miss the (2 out of 5) whipped 2 x 2's

I had problems with my drill's chuck marring the 5/4 on a system similar to Correct Deck somewhere before Sept 11th

Correct Deck the 1st mfg to take a pro-active approach to the molding issues with the anti microbiobial protection on the lastest version of the product ?

I think CX took a turn for the worse in the looks department. The finish just seems to make it look more plastic than it is. I am banking on the fact that it resists mold and stains better. Oh and another step toward fade reduction. These points make it a better sell for customers...

Re: Correct Deck

I'm jumping in in the middle, and didn't read the whole thread, so sorry if repeating. CD does indeed offer dimensional components in the CX. I use the 2 x 4's for Deckorator Rod railings. Also, I generally use Azek to wrap the band, risers, stringers, not the CD fascia. I think too much of one color is overwhelming.

I've been using CD for about three years now, and, though there are others that may look a little better then the shiny CX, no product really compares with all the upsides of CD. They are supposedly coming out with a stain stick, as well, to cover cut ends to match the CX coating in appearance.

I posted a pic under either carpentry or landscaping of CD deck with Deckorator Rods and structural brick columns

Actually, NO. Us baltimorons down here have heard of a town nearby called Filthadelphia; is that close by, and are they still booing Santa
(and waiting for one more refrain from Kate Smith?)

WTF, Tralene? You join last month, you start all kinds of threads asking pointed questions about how other people here run their business, you offer very little in the way of learned information yourself, then someone asks you where you're from and you give this snotty 5th grade answer!

You offer me nothing. You've just made my "ignore" list.
