Composite Lumber Fascia

How are you adressing your composite deck butt joints on the fascia ?
You leaving the ugly gap the consumer hates but the mfgs. mandates ?
You slotting your screw holes for expansion & contraction ?
Are you cutting scarf joints ?

You don't have to slot your screw holes for all manufactures. What I do if slotting is needed is attach handrail posts to outside of deck. Then pin where the butt joint is and slot the rest so the expansion is pushed to hide underneath the post. Longer runs where you can't hide seam with handrail post you have to pin in the middle and let it expand both ways. Just pick the best spots to your seams. I do put a colored backer underneath so you don't see treated when it shrinks. That's all I've got...

I think he means that he paints the PT frame so if the fascia shrinks it dont show green. I think its a great idea and and I am probably going to start painting the entire frame to match the color of the decking/railing. That way support posts dont have to be fascia wrapped.

That is correct. I also do the same on the joists. Black looks better than green so I would use a joist jacket, or paint...
