Certainteed Boardwalk

Any one used Certainteed's boardwalk decking yet?

Just met with a guy that wants it and after looking at it I am thinking it might be an ok product. I worry about how the color is just painted on but other than that it seems to be very nice.

Dont worry guys I still tried my best to upsell to Correct Deck We will see... He know a rep and hopes to get a good price on it.

Re: Certainteed Boardwalk

I have used the CerainTeed Boadwalk decking and quite honestly they are a little late getting into the Composite Decking game. In my opinion Trex or ProCell is a better bang for the buck. CertainTeed is quite proud of their product but I dont see the big yank.

Well if your recomending trex you must not know me very well. Trex is the worst product you can waste money on.

Procell has limited color...gray...gray...another gray... and brown.

I would rather someone come it late because they are more likely to be doing something new with materials instead of just copying trex and thier horrible product.

Re: Certainteed Boardwalk

I keep hearing this murmur that CT is looking to sell the Boardwalk line... so think carefully about the support you might then receive.

I'd look at TimberTech first as a decent/baseline composite with their TwinFinish boards...

Re: Certainteed Boardwalk

I am not to worried about support as if he chooses to use boardwalk he will be purchasing the product against my recomendation. If people are willing to put trex above boardwalk I wont use it unless he buys from his buddy and then h.o. supplied materials are not warrantied.

I say go with that fancy wallet busting Brazilian wood you like to use.: I think that stuff is sharp especially when you incorporate the fancy like black railing

Robert,
Matt is right, CertainTeed has announced that they are going to close the Boardwalk business, effective October 1.

Nice... It would not suprise me if he decided to go with it anyways thinking he could get a good price on it. Even if he does I will NOT WARRANTY anything to do with it.

Re: Certainteed Boardwalk

That stuff has lots of negatives & few positives imo. It is expensive, gets moldy, the simulated grain is too raised, only comes in two colors & both suck & now they are going going to close down. It is one of only 2 that I know of that has the same fire rating as ipe tho. Also their 2x6 will span 24" centers which can come in handy on re-skin jobs.
