Boxer Mini Skid Steer

Does anyone have a current website address for Boxer? I've tried numerous ones and they don't load.

Thanks

Try to trust me, I've been looking for a lot longer then when Greg first brought it up. I just don't have any extra cash laying around, so I have find the best deal I can get.

I received a email from their marketing guy that said they were having problems with their server.

Yeah...OK, sure...we'll let you go along thinking that!

I looked for a really long time too.. What I realized after months of searching high and low was that I could find an "alright" price on machines with questionable histories or that were located very far away, but could never, ever find a newer machine in good shape close by with a reputable support/dealer network for a "deal" price.

In the end, I opted to pay FMV for a like new machine because it was available, close by, convenient, and supported.

Re: Boxer Mini Skid Steer

Greg, I put my first bid on a skidsteer about 20 years ago.

There seems to be a lot less action in the mini skid steer market out west. I've gone to every online site for used equip. that I can find and it seems like 90% of the equip. is east of the Missisippi.

Though I live up in the little mtns., I am very close to a major metropolitan area (25 min). The number of dealers within 1 hour from me is zero, as far as I can tell. I've contacted a couple that are just beyond that and none are offering deals close to what you got Greg. Great job.

I'm not as young as you Greg, so the equip. won't have to last as long and my wife would kill me if I spent that much money now. Works been slow, I have a son in college and another not far behind. I really have to watch my nickels. But I want a new (used) toy.

Did you try Bobcat? I think they probably have the most far-reaching dealer network around.

The smaller mini-skid companies have very sporadic representation for sure. So bad, in fact that some machines are not even available provided you wanted to buy one today. It definitely is a limited market.

That being said, now that I own one, I am much less fearful of actually needing a dealership for service. The machine is relatively simple mechanically. The hydraulic system is very basic as well. I almost think even I could fix nearly anything on mine given a manual and a wrench, so don't get too tied up on the service issue as a buying decision.

Re: Boxer Mini Skid Steer

These small machines are priced around mid 20's I think. I have spoken with my brother who used to run about 5-6 larger machines. He swears I should buy one of the smaller skid loaders and I could probably get it around the same price as the mini. As a deckbuilder I definately see the advantage of size and portability. I'd like to hear someone elses point of view on this. Do I go with a mini track loader or a smaller skid loader????

That's the eternal debate: tracks or wheels. I went with the Ditchwitch R300 because it's articulated in the middle, so it can steer. No tearing up grass, or anything like that. It also, as Greg says, seems to be a well built machine. We too looked at a lot of different machines, and we easily settled on this one.

Pricewise, I'm paying $24,500 with a high torque, slow speed planetary auger (they also have a high speed low torque unit), 4 wheel drive, the 30 horsepower engine, high lift capacity, a 9" auger bit, a 2' extension, and a 3' wide bucket.
I am leasing it, so it's easier on the pocketbook, seeing as this week I don't have $24,000 in my wallet.

Re: Boxer Mini Skid Steer

that is a sweet machine steve, always been a fan of the wheeled over tracked, that articulation is going to do wonders for maneuverability, turfing protection and operator safety, and tire longevity. mine has a pretty hi flow rate and when loaded needs FINNESS. had mine down at the beach at our riding spot last summer for a beach cleanup (pulling/moving old pilings), let my buddy try it in the soft sand and he flung himself right off like he was on a mechanical bull, funny as hell to watch
