Best Miter Saw Blades For PVC Decking

I have a 12" sliding miter saw. Just wondering which 12" Freud blade model would be best for PVC Decking as in Timber Tech XLM, Azek, or Trex Escapes?

The two chioces I've come across are the:
Freud 96 Tooth for Laminate Floor / Model:TK807L
and
Freud 96T non-Ferrous Plastic / Model D1296N

Or would just an Freud 80 tooth fine work well?

Your input on these or other blades is appreciated.

I use this blade.

http://www.amazon.com/Freud-TK807-Av...ombo_pack_i_21

It works very well and lasts IMO.

I think that a triple chip, Trapezoidal flat tooth saw blade is best suited for that cutting task.

Slightly off the subject, whats the least flexing 12" blade? I've about had it with blade flex. If I was doing trim fulltime this saw I have would be long gone.

I have had good luck with Tenryu's and Matsush!ta Heavy Duty Workhorse's.

Are you 100% sure it is the blade not the head on the saw flexing?

Its the Dewalt slide saw, it looked purdy sitting there on the Lowes shelf, had an old 8 1/4 Hitachi single bevel, should have kept that.

Yes you should have. That is still a great saw. I bought it at a pawn shop just because I could not pass it up for 150 bucks.

Personally, I like to use about a 40 tooth blade for Azek and composites. The higher tooth counts seem to heat up and gum the material worse than a 40 tooth blade.

I haven't tried it since I haven't had to cut much PVC, but I've heard others say turning your blade backwards to cut those plastic gutters and other stuff. Apparently works well and reduces chipping.

Anyone else ever hear of that or tried it?

Reversing the blade works great for vinyl siding and soffit, but is useless for cutting thicker materials.

ahemm, as long as it is this type of tooth, it will work well for pvc products and the like, I dont care how many teeth are on it.

The Freud 1296N is a Triple Chip. I might give that a whirl. Timber Tech says an Alternate TB in their guide but didn't specify about cutting the XLM PVC.

Re: Best Miter Saw Blades For PVC Decking

Lowest tooth count blades stay cooler and cut cleaner... At least for CX (NOT A PVC) it does. I would give it a try with the pvc though. Great thing is they are a lot cheaper so if it does not work so well your not out a lot of money.

Re: Best Miter Saw Blades For PVC Decking

Freud got back to me and suggested the following blades for Composite and PVC decking as well as blades for aluminum railings. (see below)

For combination materials (not all PVC) you can use the following blades:

Diablo D1280X and the Rigid R12100C are the 12” Blades and can be found at Home Depot and they can also special order them, Diablo D1080X and Rigid R1090C for the 10” and the Diablo D0740X, D0724X and Rigid R0724B for the 7 ¼”. Also for the Aluminum, the LU89M010 or the LU90M010 are great.

For strictly PVC you can use the following blades:

Diablo D1296N for the 12”, D1080N for the 10” and the TK703 for the 7 ¼”.
