balusters on screen porch

Is the installation of balusters on a screen porch typically required by code?

if the deck and screen area share common perimeter than code compliant railing/wall applies

Yes, 30" above grade needs balusters or wall.

I used to install screen porches here in NC..We only had to install a handrail if the porch was above 3ft. usually placed 36'' from the floor..higher if pickets were going to be installed usually 40" In other cases if a deck was around the perimeter none would be required by code..
