Anyone With DeckTools Want A Couple Bucks?

To draw up this deck for a customer of mine? I have the dimensions and details if you've got some time to kill.

Man, what a pain! It keeps closing on me, but luckily it auto-saves every minute or so.

I would do it for you in sketchup... But the laptop that I have all my sketchup stuff on is down at the moment.

Got it partially done in skp last night, but it's a pain not knowing any shortcuts. Or maybe there aren't any. Like to draw each individual deck board.

Re: Anyone With DeckTools Want A Couple Bucks?

sketchup rocks for sure, however I am somewhat "handicapped" with it in that you get extremely proficient on one program, then some of the concepts dont carry over into another, that is why it would be great to reaally get that autocad/sketchup forum to pick up some steam. I know there are plenty of autocad users here and framerman is somewhat of a design/rendering guru and Cole with his Archicad. we could really get a forum worth its weight in gold, prolly more in the form of a schedualed chat or q&a rather than arbitrairy questions, I know I have tons of tips and tricks for working in auto cad, but could use some guidence in sketchup, one more thing, not sure how the rumor got started that AC LT is only 2d, cause thats a load of horseslop, aside from extensive hatch, rendering and block libraries and saving and file extensions, there virtually the same,

cole or nate mabey someone here knows how to do that animated screen demo thing and we could compile a library of how to demonstrations

There are tons of "how to" Sketchup demo's on youtube.

There was one that you import a 2d trellis and they show you how to import it in to sketchup and use it to create a 3d model.

Make sure you download all of the add ons that go with Sketchup. Should be there on the download page. There are a ton of materials in there. Including a couple deck board material patterns. The color is a little screwy, but you can change the color of the deck boards easy enough. That is the pattern I used on the images in my other "next project" thread.
