Almost Sold 'em On TT XLM
but they went with Azek Deck instead. The XLM looked a little too "plasticky" for their taste. They like the look of the brownstone with clay as an accent color for the border and in the octagon. And of course they want HFS, but the Azek's not grooved for them. I am getting ready to run another deck with Azek and Tiger Claws for PVC, haven't done that yet. Anyone else used the TC-P fasteners specifically for PVC decking yet?

Haven't used the Tiger Claw TC-Ps but wanted to offer another option.
Slot cutter bit in router: you don't have to slot the entire board - if it's easier, just cut slots where the board sits on joists. You could also use a biscuit cutter... Just make sure to add that add'l labor into your bid. Mac |

Re: Almost Sold 'em On TT XLM
Ok, all you deck guys, which would you prefer to install: Azek deck with the Tiger Claw TC-P tap-in hidden fasteners or the TC-G groove clip fasteners? I can go either way with this, but I'm having second thoughts on the tap-in method, where you have to hammer a clip into the side of the board then hammer the next board onto it with a 2 x 4 block and sledge. I would think that method would be a little more secure than the groove clip method though. Opinions?

We like the TC-G, and won't touch the hammer method of the TC-P... but that's just my opinion & my guy's preferences...
HTH, ~Matt P.S. I've never routered Azek, any structural or warranty issues? |

Re: Almost Sold 'em On TT XLM
The Tc-P 's suck. I am using trex and the amount of hammering required and with the boards a little curved big problems. I would not recommend at all.

Re: Almost Sold 'em On TT XLM
I have only used clips for Correct Deck and cant see how beating the boards and clips would save any time at all. Cut slots with a biscuit joiner or just sell them Correct Deck CX its already grooved and ready to go. They have some new colors that should be about the same as what your looking at anyway. AND you will save time on the decking install rather than spending days cutting slots.

Re: Almost Sold 'em On TT XLM
Thanks Robert. And no durability/weathering questions, product has been in the market a long time. Also no driving screws on angles, that makes it hard to remove boards.
