the more you buy from one wholesaler, the better prices you will get. I usually get stuff from Grainger, Graybar, TVC, etc.

These guys are sorta surplus dealers, but you can get real good deals here if they happen to have something you need. Super fast shipping.

Re: Where Do You Get The Best Deal On Supplies?
unless you are running several service trucks, i wouldn't really worry.
most suppliers offer next day delivery at no charge, some even offer same day delivery. if you do mostly projects, have it delivered. if you are doing service, stock odd items that you use fairly regularly...otherwise use the local supply house as your warehouse. if the guy is on a call, what good is a part in your shop if he has to pass 3 supply houses to get it? also, for the small $ amount you will save, it will cost more to stock your own warehouse. just a few random thoughts. |

Re: Where Do You Get The Best Deal On Supplies?
I have a semi trailer that I use for storage. Its nice to move it to big jobs. I recycle alot of materials and equipment. Plus keep in stock things we use alot of. We lock all the materials for a job up in it at night. I'm still concerned it will get broken into, with all the copper that is in it.
I agree the local supply house needs to be your warehouse. I carry more inventory than I would like. But there are times it really pays off. Especially for emergency afterhours jobs. |
