Wall Pack: Metal Halide Or HPS

I need to light up a parking lot, in front of some retail stores i did. The owner tried to get away with putting bare min. pole lights. Now the tenants are complaining. it's too dark at night.

I was thinking of putting 2 wall packs on each side of the building and doing some land scape lighting. Of course these lights will surely drown out the exterior wall sconces. The guy is cheap as hell, i already quoted him , more posts lights, but he wants nothing of it.

Any preference to MH or HPS?

If you already have some lighting, you should try to match it. In other words, if the pole top fixtures are HPS, that's what you should use. Otherwise, MH is the way to fly nowadays. Nice bright white light.

You can hardly tell a green car from a black car in HPS. Quite clear in quality MH.

Mercury vapor is basically obsolute, except in cheap residential fixtures and it has the worst efficiency of HIDs and second worst color rendition.

Metal halide offers CRI from 60-90 depending on the type with med 60s to low 70s common for parking lot type.
