UK Mains Plug To Australia

Hi,

im a painter and decorator here in australia and i have a very small job to get done, i have been living overseas in the uk for a few years and we brought back 3 appliances back that have a uk plug.

one is a drill charger 36v bosch, the other two is a hair drier and a hair curling wand, not mine obviously.

I went and bought some aussie power plugs and was just going to snip the leads off and hook them up but i noticed each of the uk plugs had fuses built into the plug itself.

do i need to use these fuses when changing the leads over? or can i just do without them, i thought it was maybe due to a different standard or something.

I have a mate thats a sparkie and i dont really want to bother him with something so small unless its absolutely necessary.

You might want to try our sister site ElectricianTalk There are several UK and Australian sparkys who are members there.
