Re: Ufur
I forgot to install a Ufer on a project here in ICF's and the inspector asked me about it prior to our footing pour. I had the Ufer clamp that I planned to use and some #4 bare copper in the trailer. he asked me to pick a full length piece of rebar, clamp the Ufer specific clamp on there and to the #4 copper, run the copper to the meter base. He signed off on it right there and we buried it in concrete. have done it that way ever since and several inspectors have approved it. on my own house I made it stick up behind the rim joist, so it was serviceable, why I don't know.

Re: Ufur
The verdict is in, BI did inspection today and accepted the rock as 'earth' for grounding purposes of the Ufer. Now you watch, I try this again on the next project and I'll be told something different

Re: Ufur
Hmm would an inspector allow *you* to install any electrical components without license or permit? if so have an local company do a service call and do it for ya.

Re: Ufur
The Ufer Ground is an electrical Earth grounding method named after its developer, Herbert G. Ufer during World War II. It is installed by connecting the ground wire to the steel reinforcement bars in foundation concrete. Its effectiveness is based on the idea that concrete is more conductive than most soil, and this semiconducting characteristic increases surface area contact with the soil the foundation is built on.

Yes *I* can install the Ufer as a foundation contractor, that's it. It has been inspected and approved. I have left the bar end exposed for the to be determined electrician to attach his clamp & bare copper to.
