Switch For Light Outside Screened Porch Door

First and foremost, there is little to no inspection where we are building. The pedestal gets inspected, and the panel installation, but after that, we are on our own.

A screened porch will have doors exiting to outside, and we'll put recessed lighting (OK for wet area) in the soffits over the exits, and will want switch control or some alternative.

What is suggested for the switching or some other means of on/off control.

Motion activation (night time only) might be nice but with a switch override.

Umm.... I would suggest a light switch, in a weather-resistant enclosure if necessary. What am I missing?

Do it the normal way. Put the switch inside, and get a light with a motion sensor feature.

It's the switching. And yes, I'm aware of the weather resistant covers. Was just wanting to know if their use is mandated by code.

Yes they are, if your local AHJ considers the location susceptible to weather. Should be pretty much a common sense thing, but it doesn't take long to make a call and ask them.
