Question

Source For Relay?

Anyone know of an online source for a DPDT relay, 120volt coil, 30A contacts?

Used to be I could get these from my local supply house, but they no longer carry that sort of thing and they are the only game in town.
I need one to rig up a control circuit for a salt water fish tank.

Thanks guys.

If you really need to switch a load that large, maybe you could use a relay to trigger a definate purpose contactor?
I searched Grainger online and came up zilch..........

Re: Source For Relay?

I used to use 30 amp DPDT relays when I had a group of lights on emergency and normal power. The coil was held in with normal power, and if it dropped out, it would drop out and permit the genset power to flow through the NC contacts. The lighting was hooked to common. I think I used ASCO brand... lemme check...

Okay, here's the exact relay I'm used to using. About 25 bucks. You'll need a JIC enclosure to put it in:

Re: Source For Relay?

Here's the enclosure that is normally suggested for open type relays, but I find them too cramped and a little on the expensive side for all the more they are. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg...mId=1611718762

That's why I just normally use a JIC enclosure (you may know them as a "Hoffman box")

May I ask what this relay will be doing for your salt water fish tank?

Just curious because I always like seeing (mentally) the finished product. Perhaps for no other reason but ideas.

Joe, it's a well known fact that if you periodically shock your fish, they will thrive.

Maybe that's why my fish died, or maybe because I got sick of taking care of them

I had some feeder fish for my Oscars, about 3 didn't get eaten and grew pretty big, I flushed them but one kept swimming back up after 3 flushes, so I scooped it out of the toilet and decided he gets to live.
He outlived the oscars, so when they died I threw the 5 inch goldfish in the backyard for the dog to play with. He made short work of it, boy I love dogs.
