If you yank it all out do you ever have a problem with kinks?

I pull out just enough to make it up in the box. No need to pull any slack up.

Thanks.

So, I'm assuming your inspectors have no issues with leaving those loops in the wall?

There's no Code violation in it, so there's no issue with it.

Re: Romex Splice And Tap Kit??

I do warranty work for a Home manufacutrer that uses this product. They DO FAIL. I replace them with a j- box under the home and do the splice the old fashion way. I could not imagine these buried in a wall or any other cavity, as they do "burnout" when they fail. They are like the plugs in the back of devices, good for a few years or more, but heat and fatigue with use. I put them in the same catagory as cut in devices that use no box, I would not let my kids sleep in a home having them.

I am unaware of any 110v+ voltage devices that can be installed w/o a box.

They can all be installed without boxes. Just run some screws through the yoke directly into the drywall.

Think of the money you'll save!

Boxes...we don't need no stinkin' boxes!

They're made by P&S, but they don't list them in their catalog.

As they are in the "mobilehomepartsstore.com", would they be allowed in a conventional building?

Beats me.

I find it interesting that the cheapest of anything is somehow magically rated 'for use in mobile homes'.

Re: Romex Splice And Tap Kit??

The boxless devices have a high failure rate. Most Modular Home manufactures around here have stopped using them. The "Boxless" splices have begin to give us a lot of call backs as well. I don't forsee them being used much longer unles they are improved. I do warranty work for some manufactures in my area, so I have encountered many of these devices. I get a lot of service calls over these devices, in every case we eliminate them and use cut in box and standard device.
