Question

Residential Rates In Southeast Michigan

I've been out of contracting for a few years and out of residential for even more. Starting buisness back and have to do a little rez to get started. sq. ft. or by opening it doesn't matter. Thanks

By the square foot and by the opening are both common estimating techniques, but they may or may not work for you. These methods, although very popular, carry some risk. Odd construction types (high ceilings/cut up homes/unusual framing materials) can really screw you hard. What you really need to do is wire a few houses now, and then devide by the square foot and devide by the number of openings to find out what your costs are. Your're not as fast as you once were, and codes have changed a lot requiring more stuff. This will give you a baseline for either a square foot or per opening price. Prices vary a lot around the country, from as low as 1.50/sq ft to as high as 8/sq ft for a code minimum install.
