Preparing For Licensing Exam

I've been in the trade for a little over two years. I'd like to have a broader knowledge of the electrical codes. Other than the NEC codebook are there any other good study books or dvd's out there to help me prepare for the license exam.

I was looking at these dvd's.

Anyone ever use them. I don't want to waste 500 bucks if they are no good, but will pony up the bucks if they are useful.. Thanks

Re: Preparing For Licensing Exam

I'm sure those other books are good, but have you looked into the stuff Mike Holt is offering? http://www.mikeholt.com/index.php?id=homegeneral

Also, Tom Henry has great stuff to prepare for the test. Right now I am in the 2nd phase of a 2-part class going over electrical calculations. Ampacity, motors, taps, box fill, that sort of thing. http://www.code-electrical.com/

And IMO, you can't go wrong with any study books from Thomson/ Delmar learning. http://www.delmarlearning.com/browse...D=BG&cat2ID=EQ

I would also suggest trying to learn the theory behind alternating current. It makes understanding the NEC a whole lot easier. Good luck.

That's good news. Now go ask your boss for a raise because after reading the Holt book you'll deserve one.
