Powermatic Switch

My Powermatic 15 planer (220 v) switch is acting up. I just replaced it a year or so ago too. When I push the switch on, the machine runs but the switch doesn't stay engaged/pushed in so as soon as I release it the machine stops.

I haven't opened it up yet, just wondering if there's an easy fix for this? (fingers crossed :-)

Re: Powermatic Switch

I looked the unit up and read the owners manual. The unit has a magnetic motor starter with overload protection. I would have an electrician trouble shoot the starter.

Re: Powermatic Switch

Called Powermatic (man they give good support :-) and their guy suggested that maybe dust had got into the switch. Took the access panel off, and guess what? Last time we had tuned/adjusted things, someone had forgotten to put the dust cover back on the switch area ..

blew it out real well, and I'm good to go.

Happy endings are great. Thanks for letting us know the outcome. That looks like a fine machine.
