Pool Heater

Is it true that if you don't have gas in your neighborhood, only electric that you can't have a heated pool?

Re: Pool Heater

I have a heat pump that I got for free when I tore out a customer's old pool 10 years ago. I put it on my pool and it does a heck of a good job. I don't recall the brand, but Hayward bought them out and now market them under their line.

Re: Pool Heater

I would question the use of a pool if there wasn't enough sun to heat it with solar thermal.

Also question the non use of solar PV if one has a pool, as the energy bills tend to be high with $350+ being normal.

Re: Pool Heater

Plenty of people up here have pools - they like them. Maintaining a pool isn't cheap. Running a pool heater can significantly extend your season. Not so popular around here, but some pools have a heated soaking pool as well, but no other heat source for the pool.

Re: Pool Heater

Unless people are using the pool when it's below freezing out, a heat pump may be the cheapest way to heat a pool, and it only requires electricity.
