Partnership Or Sell Business?

Just curious what it would take (ie money) for you all to sell your business or go into partnership with another. I have been in business for less than a year and all is good, I have been clearing between 2000-4000 a week and do not have to strap on the tool belt all that often. I have been talking to an large established hvac contractor looking to break into the electrical business but needs a licensed electrician. I will meet with him later this week hoping to at least get some of his hvac electrical business and at best maybe cash out for some big bucks and maybe go on salary. I am very reluctant to give up my business at this point in time and this is just mainly just speculation but what would you all cash out for? a million, two million,.........Anybody know of anyone who has gone this route?

Most contracting businesses are not properly set up to be worth anything. Most contracting businesses are worth exactly what the sum of their tools, equipment, inventory, and real estate are worth.

If your business is doing well now (clearing 2-4k per week is good), why cash out? Parnerships are not all they are cracked up to be. It is usally better to have one person at the top, not two.

If you are the one with the license what would you be selling? As MD said most value in a contracting business is only real property and inventory. Unless you have maintenance contracts or service contract accounts there is no equity in "the business" that has a monetary value.

mechanical...i think BHE is in our area...let's try to guess with HVAC is looking to use his license...my first guess would be Mid-State, except he said they are looking to get into electrical.

Perri already has a license. C&C? Browns?

come on BHE spill the beans.

Could be clowns or his son Larry. I think Midstate has a deal going with someone in EC.
