No Power To Boiler

I connected the thermostat wires at the boiler to confirm a possible broken wire in the wall and the furnance doesn't fire up. It's a larrs gas hot water system. The power switch is on, yet it doesn't seem to be getting juice. Any idea what could cause this? I'm thinking the transformer maybe?

Thanks

Seems like you need to either get out your meter, or call for professional help. You're just guessing if you aren't using a meter. There's so much stuff in the control circuit for a boiler that can interrupt the control power.

Yeah it could be the transformer, or a fuse, or a circuit breaker, or a crushed LV control circuit, or a miswired GFCI device. I mean it could be anything! Better get someone who knows what they're doing to come fix it. Why take a chance on something as important as heat, especially with winter coming.

Why would you think there is a broken wire in the wall? And why think that that shorting the two wires when you assume one was broken to begin with would troubleshoot the sitiuation?

W/o a meter ...it's a guess....could be anything from a trip breaker/blown fuse to a bad t-stat..to a bad aqua stat....and all points in between.

Re: No Power To Boiler

That boiler has a flow switch that proves circulation through the tubes before the burners will fire.

Even with my own bioler, I wan someone that works on them daily, to do the repairs, there are so many safety switches and you better know what your doing, heck the gas furnace may of been an oil burner at one time and had an emergency oil burner cut off switch somewhere.

I have some Pic's of what a home looks kike when the safety switched fail.
